My own experience with visualization.
Filed Under (personal experience) by admin on 29-09-2007
After the post on visualization, I’d like to give you an insight in my process of visualization.
I am doing some sort of relaxation and meditation exercises for quite some time. I always found them rather easy to perform, but was never able to perform them in a real decent way.
The problem with meditation is that the subconscious mind tends to interfere. A lot. Usually, he tends to distract us with images of the past or worries for the future. If you get caught in one of them, it could take 5 minutes or more to notice that you were not visualizing your riches, but thinking about the groceries for tonights dinner.
The trick is to be persistent. In time, you will start to notice when this happens, and you will be able to come back quickly to the exercise. You will need to do this every time the mind wanders off. In the beginning, this was every 10 seconds for me. And after 3 distractions, I got caught in a discussion with myself, only to notice 5 minutes later that I lost the visualization.
But that is perfectly normal. It happens to every body, and in time, it can be beaten, at least to some extend. The subconscious mind will always interfere.
But now that I am trying to attract riches, something new seems to happen. If I can stay on the exercise, suddenly, thoughts seem to appear that have a definite meaning related to the problem at hand. A hunch if it were. My experience tells me that these need to be studied carefully. In my case, they have already proven to be real steps towards riches.
Now, I do not act on each one of them, but I try to remember them and write them down. If they come back, they are usually sound.
This was something entirely new for me. I never experienced this kind of intuitive hunches. I tried to get them, but it seems that if one meditates without purpose, they do not appear.
Well, I am lying here. If you concentrate on some bad character trait of yourself, I must admit that flashes of ‘wisdom’ also appear. For instance on how some traits are linked to each other. This is also a very good tool for self development, because I believe that people need to ‘become great’. I think Wallace Wattles found this to be the most interesting of his 3 achievements. To do so, we need to investigate our own personality and correct it. Anyway, that is a topic for much later.
On these flashes, much has been written. According to Napoleon Hill, they come but from 4 sources:
- Infinite Intelligence
- One’s subconscious mind, wherein is stored every sense impression and thought impulse which ever reached the brain through any of the five senses
- From the mind of some other person who has just released the thought, or picture of the idea or concept, through conscious thought, or
- From the other person’s subconscious storehouse.
I personally believe that most of it comes from the infinite intelligence. Which makes it all the much easier to stay grateful, as there is really no reason to be boasting of anything. We just got the knowledge from above, so let’s give credit to those who deserve.
Be well. Be rich. Be great.
