The MotivAider.

Last week, I discovered a new tool that should be a great asset when trying to stay mindful. It is the kind of tool I was looking for since a long time, but could seem to find, or, when I found something similar, it was too expensive.
I am talking about ‘the MotivAider’ . It is a small pager like instrument that can be clipped to your belt and vibrates at fixed time intervals or a fixed number of time per time interval (the difference is that in the second case, the time between 2 buzzing is randomly changed around some mean value, I apologize for the geeky physicist explanation
).
Anyway, the main problem with awareness or mindfulness is that one keeps forgetting to be mindful. I know that I do and from what I heard from other people, this also seem to be a tricky thing. All say roughly the same: we can be mindful in some simple cases, but when the going gets tough, we forget all about the mindfulness (and ourselves).
I find it particularly difficult when working at my PC, talking to people. The problem is that this constitutes 90% of my day. So much for mindfulness.
What people usually do it to put in place external triggers. Like a note that pops up on your screen, but this tends to be embarrassing when a colleague enters and does not work when talking to people. Also, you tend to start to ignore the external trigger (but this could be because of a bad choice in wording of mine).
Anyway, I now put all my ‘hopes’ on the MotivAider . The technique they propose in the 100 page guide (free to download from their site) is to associate a small but powerful (for you personally that is) action or motivational reminder to the buzz.
They describe a lot of examples in their note for self development but it can be tailored to any needs where we just need to ‘not forget’ doing ‘the right thing’. And mindfulness is just that kind of thing.
Needless to say I am very excited to try it as I have been struggling with this issue for more than 2 years now. Really, it is that bad :-).
I will keep you updated on how it goes as soon as it is delivered and I get a chance to test it.
Be well. Be rich. Be great.
