The 7 laws of attraction: The law of paradoxical intent.

Filed Under (7 laws of attraction, law of attraction) by admin on 02-08-2008

This is the fifth article in the series of the 7 laws of attraction. The splitting up of the law of attraction in 7 parts allows us to better understand the workings of the law. Each of them details an aspect that we should take into consideration.

Today we continue with:

The law of paradoxical intent.

I think this law is the one that is used most often unintentionally by people who do not know anything about the law of attraction, and it often makes them miserable.

The law of attraction states that we attract whatever we put our concentration on. But what if what we concentrate upon is negative? Well, we still will attract it.

Let’s give an example: For years, I have been ill very often. And I have been looking for solutions in order to not be ill any more. And in this my mistake was embedded. I did not want to get ill, and so I concentrated on illnesses and … yes, got ill. But recently, I started concentrating on radiant health. On being in good shape and now I am much less ill.

Off course, its not perfect. Yet. But as I get more and more healthy, I get to be more and more confident in my abilities, and so I am more and more healthy.

Why is it not perfect?

Well, the real reason is that most people, including myself, are filled with negative thoughts, sometimes also described as limiting beliefs. To use the example of my health again: I used my weak health to avoid some responsibilities that I am afraid of. So I got ill to not have to take them up. After a while, this becomes annoying, and I started to hate falling ill. Now off course, I still have the habit of falling ill in order to avoid some responsibilities. And then I start to tell myself how inconvenient it would be to fall ill just now. And so I get more ill.

But once I recognize the pattern, I can break it. I tell to myself: “ok, if I fall ill, it will be like that. I will perform to the best of my abilities and see what happens”. In 90% of the cases, this is enough to dissipate the upcoming illness. Really wonderful.

Breaking patterns.

To break patterns, we first need to recognize them. To this end, a study of oneself is really needed. I do not believe one can get successful at the law of attraction without studying oneself. There are lots of methods on the market (like the sedona method) and I really believe most of them work.

But what they all have as a fundament is mindfulness. The constant observation of oneself. They do not always call it like that or say it with so many words, but it is actually implied. To learn more about this topic, see my post on mindfulness exercises and the motivaider.

Long time no posting

Filed Under (7 laws of attraction, mindfulness exercises) by admin on 01-08-2008

It has been a long time since I have posted here.

The main reason for this was that I had a lot of other things to do (I changed jobs for instance) and I was a bit dissapointed by the lack of real online success.

I guess it is one of these things we have to overcome just to become really successful in some skill or business.

What made me come back to this blog?

First, I have an unfinished series on the 7 laws of attraction running here. I really would like to finish it (actually, the articles are nearly all written, I just need to publish them)

And secondly, looking at the statistics for my blog, I noticed that I was starting to receive visits from google for the keyword “mindfulness exercises“. At topic that I love dearly! So I started to campaign for that keyword again (I was in the 25th spot, and climbed already one). Furthermore, this keyword has a high search rate (some 1000 per month) which would really improve my visits (now 10 per day)

Voila, expect some activity again on this blog in the very near future.

Be well. be rich. be great.

The 7 laws of attraction: The law of pure desire

Filed Under (7 laws of attraction, Uncategorized, law of attraction) by admin on 10-05-2008

This is the fourth article in the series of the 7 laws of attraction. The splitting up of the law of attraction in 7 parts allows us to better understand the workings of the law. Each of them details an aspect that we should take into consideration.

Today we continue with:

The law of pure desire.

This law is actually know through the literature in different forms. In “The sedona method” for instance, it is called Hootlessness. In Buddhist terms, it would be “non attachment”.
What both want to emphasize is that although we work towards goals, we cannot be ruled by these goals. Said differently, we should not identify ourselves with the outcome. If we do such a thing, we will start fearing a negative outcome, and this will impede success.
Detachment, Hootlesness, or pure desire is a fundamental concept.
The problem is that too many people rely on external objects, situations, or persons for their own self image and happiness. But as we have no direct control over these circumstances (the law of attraction is an indirect and slow way) we risk very much to get hurt. Because no matter how hard we try, we will always fall short in some situation or disappoint some people we care about.
The solution is to not identify with the external world and to stop all negative thoughts and emotions.

How is that done?

Simply through various mindfulness exercises. Through sets of exercises, we watch every emotion and thought pass by as a spectator and decide to act on it or not. We discard negative one (we let them go) and we keep the positive ones. That’s all there is to it.
But as with all simple practices, it is very difficult to carry them out in real life. But my experience tells me that with enough practice, we CAN do it and that it makes life a whole lot more pleasurable. Unfortunately, describing them is out of the scope of this article. I have some posts on the subject, but I intend to do a series on them also.
